okaypudge schrieb:This is a late 70s/ 90s Bowie album. There is way too much vocals. Why does Paul have to sing every second of every song. The songs seem very long - while they used to be 4 plus minutes in the past it flew by coz alot was instrumental. To me it sounds whiney and pretentious. The best bits of Interpols songs were always instrumental, build ups and kick ins etc.
Where is Daniel and Carlos on this album??? There is not one melodic guitar solo or thumping haunting bass line. I feel the album is very strong up to and including lights (first 4 songs) - but it never recovers after that - it sounds like a solo project and too experimental. Seems strange it took 3 years to make this.
I worship Interpol and was a little let down by their last album and thought they would get back to basics on this one - lights. Success, and Summer Well promised alot - but they are the best on the album. I feel Lights is one of their career bests and I still think they will be amazing live but this songs like a Bowie, Pink Floyd mish mash!
